The largest city in Berkeley County is Goose Creek and due to lots of developable land and a county government that is pro-growth especially when it is well planned development, the city and much of Berkeley County is poised to grow much larger.
Located in the triangle between Summerville, Moncks Corner and North Charleston, Goose Creek and Berkeley County is planning to grow significantly with over 100,000 new residents expected to move to the area within the next 10 years.
Many workers at the Naval Nuclear Power Training facility or SPAWAR at the Charleston Naval Weapons Station choose to live in nearby Goose Creek. But Goose Creek has even more working in its favor with Google’s new data center that brought hundreds of high tech jobs to its 520 acre campus in Goose Creek on Highway 52.
Goose Creek has some very established neighborhoods including Crowfield Plantation. But much more is on the horizon with Cane Bay Plantation offering homes by Centex and the first Del Webb active adult community in the Charleston area. Two exciting new mixed use developments include Carnes Crossroads by the Daniel Island Company and Nexton by MWV (formerly known as Mead Westvaco).
Another area of Berkeley County seeing a lot of development is the Highway 52 corridor between Goose Creek and Moncks Corner where you’ll find lots of new construction including two master planned communities, Foxbank Plantation and Spring Grove Plantation.
